Steam and the 64-bit version

Steam and the 64-bit version

Postby Cindy5663 » Wed Apr 02, 2014 10:57 am

I am looking at the 64-bit version of realMyst sold by Steam and would like to know if this is a download version or a DVD?

If it's a downloaded version, how big is the download? Does anyone know?

Thx,
C :)

Steam is 100% digital (and realMyst Masterpiece is only available as a download)

But I don't know how big it is and I don't know how to know it, unless by trying to download it. But it shouldn't be a problem, Steam will do it for you ;)

The game's page on Steam says "Hard Drive: 3GB available space" under System Requirements.

That's the space it will take on your computer but I guess the download comes compressed ;)

The download is a fair bit less then 3 GB, I think it's 1.5 - 2 GB but I'm not 100% sure. I don't think they made a 64-bit release sadly.

This may be slightly off-topic but I bought realMyst on Steam without knowing what I was getting into: I was expecting it to be a game download, but it's not.
Steam needs to run (online) in order for you to be able to play games you've bought there. There is also an off-line mode but this doesn't work for all games.
If I had known in time what "DRM free" means I would never have purchased through Steam, now I have the feeling I bought something that isn't mine :x

Additionally: at first realMyst didn't run on my Macbook Pro 8gig with OS 10.10.2
but later I found out this is because Steam only runs from the topfolder in my global application folder and realMyst only works when I install it in the users' application folder.
Weird.
But maybe this can be of help for someone.

Yeah Steam doesn't sell games, they basically sell indefinite rentals.
