I don't agree.

It's hard to trust a company that put on sale a game with so much technical problems. Not for me, but their reputation suffered.
So it's important for Obduction that realMyst has a decent update.

I agree with WeldFord. RealMyst: Masterpiece Edition is a sign of Cyan's works, its sort of like something bad your write on a resume. If they fix most the issues with a patch and the patch is delivered in a timely manner it is like they are appolizing for the mistake and trying to 'make it up'.

I am very glad to hear that Cyan is responding to our concerns.

As it stands, RM:ME is a fairly good game but it could be a great one. I do think that with a bit more in the way of patches/updates this could be amazing, and a good long-term seller on Steam. But with the mixed response we're seeing right now that's less likely to happen.

As for Cyan's reputation, I think the company has been struggling in that respect ever since Uru tanked and Cyan got a bit financially desperate.
They've been forced to make creative compromises ever since, IMO.

Let's face it, Myst V was not as good as it could've been if they'd had more time to work on it, and a lot of what they've done since (mobile apps, Hex Isle, MQO) was really not the ambitious sort of work any of us wanted them to be doing. We were hoping for detailed, rich, substantial, beautifully realized gameworlds, and much of what we got was cartoonish, simplistic, and small in scope.

I am happy to see Cyan going back to its roots and making really compelling game environments (with Obduction and RM:ME) and I'm hoping that both of those projects go well enough that Cyan Worlds can expand to do a lot more of what we're really hoping they'll do.

From what I have seen realMyst seems mostly OK. Sure there are a few bugs but since when has there been a game where things haven't needed a few patches.

At least you can play the game, unlike the people who rage over spending $80 on an EA game only to not be able to play it at all for several weeks.

Can you provide us with your computer specs? I'm interested to see what CPU/GPU combos handle RM Masterpiece maxxed out with smooth, fluid playability.

I doubt there are many games that can't handle maxed out.

Do you happen to know what your framerate is while playing?

Hi Tomala :)

Fraps benchmark text says this

http://t.co/iv6jWnnJML

If the link doesn't work it averages at 60 and dips to 30 occasionally.

Well it appears it is possible to play the game problem free but most people here don't have a computer like that WOW.

Actually I'm having problems with both my laptop and desktop. My laptop runs the game at a better framerate but not by much. 45 to 60 on the desktop, 45 to 70 on the laptop.

My full system specs between both systems:

[Reveal] Spoiler:
Desktop:

Operating Systems: Windows 7 Ultimate 64/Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3/Fedora 19
Motherboard ASRock Extreme 4 Gen 4
Processor: Intel i7 2700k
Graphics Card: AMD R9 290 (4 GB GDDR5 with 512 bits)
RAM: 8 GB

***********************************************************************
Laptop:

Laptop Model: ASUS ROG G74
Operating Systems: Windows 7 Ultimate 64
Processor: Intel i7 2670QM 2.2 ghz
Graphics Card: GTX 560m (3 GB GDDR3 with 192 bits)
RAM: 8GB

I'm starting to think that the game depends more on CPU than GPU.
