Oculus Rift Support?

Postby Armadeon » Wed Feb 05, 2014 9:11 pm

I know this is a lot to ask, but could there please be official support for the Oculus Rift when the consumer product is released? I know in an interview it has been discussed that the team has tested out the Rift with the Masterpiece Edition. Ever since the game first came out when I was a kid, I have dreamt of being on Myst Island. realMyst Masterpiece Edition + Oculus Rift + Razer Hydra would be the closest thing to physically being there.

That would be pretty sweet. I'm sure Unity already supports the Rift.

I'm not sure how much time Cyan will want to dedicate to maintaining realMyst since they're working on Obduction. But realMyst has traditionally been a place for Cyan to test out new technologies (it was previously a testing ground for Uru), and since they are supporting the Rift on Obduction, maybe they will experiment with it in RMME.

The Mac application has a subdirectory "realMyst.app/Contents/Plugins/OculusPlugin.bundle". No idea whether it's linked into the code or accessible in any useful way.
