For years, I've made a point of supporting Cyan by buying each of their products, and I've never been disappointed. I'll be buying this no matter what it is. I'm looking forward to it! Those guys are visionaries! :D

My speculation is this:

I think they're making assorted additional enhancements to the iOS variant of RealMyst for a PC/Mac rerelease.

That likely includes adding day-night cycles to the ages, and probably a lot of higher-res textures and more detailed geometry on some of the models... with some scalability in graphics settings so it'll look good on older computers but look even better on newer ones.

I'm betting since they already have RealMyst working in Unity 3d, that this Mac/PC port is an extension of that same Unity project - and that their Kickstarter project (the one that 'feels like' Myst but isn't a Myst game) is the UDK project.

Just speculation, but it seems likely to me.

Thats what I think it is too. Off-topic but don't be supprised if Cyan makes a game that needs newer hardware to work as it is quit difault and limiting too support older hardware.

EDIT: Don't know why this post is all bold.

Nice picture! :)

I wonder how much will be improved. Adding a night cycle to Channelwood is nice, but to have RealMyst adhere to today's graphical standards requires a lot more than that! I play the Lord of the Rings Online frequently and I'm always impressed with the quality of the lighting and the very realistic water surfaces. If RealMyst would get that kind of realism, that would be something!

Now that I have a closer look, I think the water surface does look different than it used to. And doesn't there seem to be plants and little trees in the water? Interesting!

Yet Rand has already confirmed that a remake of realMYST is in the works and will be Cyan's next release.

When did Rand, and to whom, did he say that?
Just curious.

Well one of the questions in last nights Q & A was if realMYST: Masterpiece Edition would be available before Christmas, to which Rand replied yes, so I imagine we'll be seeing it out fairly soon.

So tomorrow is the 12th anniversary of realMYST. Does anyone think that Cyan might release something more about the upcoming Masterpiece edition?

Coming back for the first time since posting (keeping an eye at the kickstarter phew!) You do realize that my post was a humorous way of thanking for the shared image, don't you? Well it was. Not ironic, mean or otherwise pejorative. Just humorous! cheers!
