New (yesterday) Kickstarter update (part 1 of 3), along with a Developer Blog post, complete with a video. The video, whilst being facetious, does have quite a lot of footage of Hunrath in it, so I'd recommend checking that out.

This new development pic is very interesting.
A couple of things strike me as odd:
- the train / mine cart tracks lead right under the patch of concrete - as if the concrete had been placed on top of it
- in another thread I've already mentioned that these man-made structures (house, road) look out of place in the rest of this scenario - as if they had been brought there from planet Earth
- the houses and road look like they've been cut out in a circular fashion which reminds me of this early piece of concept art:

Also worth noting that the tracks actually go into the soil under the patch of concrete, rather than the circular area simply having been deposited above them. There's also something circular on the road; not sure what that is; manhole maybe?

Other things that I noticed in the image (not odd, just perhaps of interest):
-The graveyard on the right of the image.
-The mushroom-shaped plant behind the graveyard, which looks similar to a plant seen in the original concept art.

I hadn't even noticed the giant sphere in the picture with the houses - but it is there in the top left hand corner. What is it?

Looks like some sort of planet or moon. There's another one further behind it. They can be seen in this concept art, although in that they look slightly different and are smaller than they appear in the screenshots.

I've been noticing that even the untextured models are beautiful. Enough so that I need to look more than once to realize they are not textured.

As for the above image, maybe it's an alien moonshine contraption behind the house, and Robin is playing a drunken country alien on the lam from the law.

I'm not sure that they are tracks. It's hard to tell. I am reminded of curbing, such as you find in the Ae'gura courtyard near the tree/stalagmite.

They look very much like rails to me, and there is a hint of sleepers (ties in US parlance) between the rails.

I also think that we can see enough of the boundary of the section with the house on it to make out that it is circular in plan - as though it was a round section cut from another place and transported here.

And (to me at least) the rails don't disappear under the rock/soil, they go straight into it. I suppose that could mean that the "newer" section with the house on it has cut into whatever was there previously, removing it - perhaps back to where the house came from?

I wonder if there are a pair of legs with silver shoes on sticking out from under the edge somewhere :)

If the GameBoy footage shows actual gameplay then it is clear that the tracks are indeed tracks. It shows long sections of it.

And about the models/textures I have to agree: they look superb. Right now some of the untextured models remind me of the abstract look of "The Witness" - which is a good thing because I like its art style. The images really show that Cyan haven't forgot their craft: building strange, mysterious, beautiful worlds.

They've also managed to get a grip on the Unreal Engine which often has a tendency to make things look shiny. I can't wait for the final modelling pass and textures.

I hope that they'll offer a movement mode with a realistic walking speed (with optional running). I remember in Er'cana that walking through that long canyon gave a great sense of scale for the vast environment.

Huh that picture with the circular cut-out house is very interesting. It definitely is made to look artificially placed there with that whole dirt layer under the asphalt visible, and part of it crumbling.

Did the owner of this house discover some sort of spherical alien transportation technology with which to move his abode to some sort of abandoned exotic alien paradise? Maybe it was against his will? Maybe the house was stolen!
