Obduction on Steam?

As the title says, I'm wondering if Obduction will be on Steam. If it's not it's not big deal, but since most other Cyan games are on there I think it would only be fitting for it to be released on Steam. Also, this is kind of a separate question, but will it be released on Linux based OS's such as SteamOS?

I think it's pretty much a given that it'll be released on Steam. I can't see any reason for it not to be.

As for Linux, I just don't remember the latest. The last thing I remember was that it depended on Linux support from Unreal, the engine they're using. As far as I know, it is supported currently by Unreal, but I suppose it depends on what version of the engine they're using.

It will be. They had a greenlight page on Steam. That's the platform I'm getting it on anyway.

I hope there's a downloadable version on something other than Steam. GOG would be the best. I don't want my purchase to be tied down by Steam's servers.
What I REALLY want is a nice traditional big-box release.

I think they'll go for as many distribution channels they can do, and that includes Steam, Humble Bundle, and GOG.
As for a boxed release: maybe? I know boxed releases are expensive, and the only companies still doing them are the AAA studios who have the money, and most of those are basically just Steam keys in a box.
I guess it depends on if Cyan sees any profit in it. In today's world, for most small studios, that answer is no. Which is why I always make sure to get the boxed copy from any Kickstarter, because I know there is a good chance that there won't be a boxed version later.

If they just do a pre-order box release so they know how many to make, I'll order two

Well there will be boxes for those who pledged at that level, for any other they need a publisher.

As for digital channel, they asked in the survey which one was preferred (Steam, GOG or Humble) in order to know how many keys they needed for each one. So I guess all of them are planned.
I just hope we can change that choice. I voted for Steam at that time, but now I would prefer to have it on GOG.

The fact that I had zero money for the duration of the kickstarter continues to haunt me :C

I would like a big box but the shipping and duties from the US would make it not worth it. :(.

Any news on GOG? All I could find was the wishlist page.

I don't think they can list it on GOG until it's ready. Or at lest, I've only ever seen pre-orders available there (and even that's pretty rare), never just a listing like on Steam.

Do we know if it's going to have steam achievements/cards?

Obduction's store page currently lists Steam Achievements, but not Steam Trading Cards. I'm not sure how many games have trading cards immediately at release, but I see plenty of unreleased games that don't currently list them. I think many developers add them in after release.

Since realMyst: Masterpiece Edition has trading cards/badges, I suppose someone at Cyan has experience in that area so hopefully they'll get added at some point. The only Steam badge I've ever maxed is realMyst: ME and I'd like to do the same thing with Obduction.
