A Google Doodle for Myst 20th Anniversary

Postby Mac_Fife » Thu Aug 08, 2013 12:26 pm

A reboot of Tai'lahr's (now locked) thread on the MOUL forums.

With a little over six weeks to go until the 20th anniversary of Myst's original release, now seems like a good time to prod Google about how cool it would be to mark the occasion with a Google Doodle - see http://www.google.com/doodles/about for the email address for suggestions.

Well, I for one, was a bit miffed that Google chose to ignore Myst's 20th birthday. They were obviously too preoccupied with honouring other important dates such as the German elections (22 Sep), Saudi National Day (23 Sep) and Maria Tănase's (who???)100th Birthday (25 Sep) - Oh! and of course their own 15th birthday (27 Sep) :(

Thanks for posting that, Mac. I thought maybe I was taking this a bit too personally. I mean, I could understand if they'd had something else they thought was more important for that day, but they didn't - nothing, nada, zilc. And, I could understand if we'd waited to ask until the week before, but we started asking six months ago. Is that not long enough for super doodle artists to sketch up something in time? *sigh*

 :( :?

I must admit the pinata was handy for taking out my frustrations. ;)

Hmm... I wonder if Cyan was contacted by them? Maybe they had some problems getting legal issues sorted out, given the size of Cyan who may not have that easy acass to goo lawers.

If there were some issue like that (and I don't really see Cyan having a problem with Google making up a doodle commemorating Myst) then it's unlikely that greydragon would have made this post: viewtopic.php?p=784#p784
